What a rockin' summer it has been!
This summer our campers learned what it meant to rock on for their Savior. If you are one of those campers or if there are any in close proximity to you, then find out if the summer’s theme passage can be recited…I’ll give you a moment…Psalm 95:1 “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!”
They learned to continually rock on with the gifts and talents God has given them during times of joy and hardship and anytime between while clinging to their Rock. It’s definitely much easier to rock on and praise our Lord here at Camp Phillip where it’s the norm, but we hope and pray that they have been encouraged, renewed, and strengthened to do so wherever they go.
There has been much to rock on about this summer! God has richly blessed us through our long-time and returning Camp Phillip campers, families, volunteers, and churches. Our summer count has also increased from last summer because of the additional opportunities to serve new campers, families, and churches. We even had summer campers and families hailing from Phoenix, AZ and Olympia, WA!
Our summer camp rocked because of the humble dedication of our year round staff, SALT (Summer Adult Leadership Team) staff, and Junior staff. In addition to the already solid staff listed above, we called a new program director, hired many new SALT staff, and witnessed a surge of servant attitude in our Junior staff (high school volunteers) who volunteered multiple weeks at Camp Phillip or on our summer day camps.
Thank you for your continued support to our mission and program. Thanks and praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the rock of our salvation!
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize…we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:24, 25b.
And run/walk we did! 124 of us to be exact! The Camp Phillip 5K could not have been successful without our generous sponsors: Behl Fence and Decking, Chosen Gen, Füllhorn Farms, Grace Place Coffee, Jackson Street Holdings, Norse Construction Co., and Northwestern Publishing House. We also could not have done this without some amazing volunteers, Ben and Steph Ihlen and family.
After our very first 5K, started by Kristin Moldenhauer, Ben and Steph took it over and ran with it, and it has continued to flourish. Thank you, Ben and Steph, and special thanks to our SALT and alumni staff who also volunteered at the event, and to all of you who ran the 5K—thank you for helping Make Camp Run!
As we race to the next Camp Phillip 5K, may God strengthen and preserve you as you fix your eyes on Jesus while running with perseverance the race that God has marked out for you.
It's starting to feel like Fall or Autumn--which do you prefer?
Summer camp may be over, but our Fall field trip season is just beginning. As your school year begins, why not kick off the year Camp Phillip style? Let us help you develop class cohesion and Christian unity within your students. Join us at our confirmation and teen retreats as we continue to learn about our God, grow in faith and knowledge of His love, and embrace living a sanctified life of thanks to our Savior.
Fall marks the season where the leaves change colors because the trees prepare for the winter by taking in as much nutrients as they can. Our nutrient is God’s Holy Word, and soaking up the truth and promises in it should not be seasonal for us, but daily. Whether it is here at Camp Phillip or wherever you may be, may you continue to soak up the nutrients in the Word of the One who calls Himself the Bread of Life!
