Junior staff
Camp Phillip--Junior staff

Excellent experience.  Great growth.  Junior staff.

We rely on high school-age volunteers to help throughout the summer in the areas of operations, programs and assistant counseling.  All teens interested in volunteering are expected to attend Junior staff training at the beginning of summer.  Their responsibilities and times of service depend on their age level and Christian maturity.  We have limited this program to 105 total young people with 5-15 people helping out per week.  A male and female Junior staff director are in charge of the students.

One teen summarizes the junior staff experience in this way, "Junior staff is awesome!  I love everything about it . . . working with the campers . . . meeting other junior staff . . . growing in my faith . . . it's the best!"

Here's what being Junior staff is all about.

Camp Phillip--Junior staff Role models

Each year hundreds of children gather at Camp Phillip to be filled with Christ's love.  These campers need good role models, a listening ear, a friendly smile and lots of Christian love.

One of the most vital elements of our summer camp ministry is for children to be around people for whom Christianity is not just a religion, but also a way of life.

It is important that all Junior staff members:
• reflect Christian love and service to the campers
• desire spiritual growth in themselves and campers
• show joy in the Lord
• display patience and self-control
• have eagerness to learn
• demonstrate respect for authority
• be honest
• have a sense of humor.
Camp Phillip--Studying the Bible Well trained

During Junior staff training, teens will be trained in Christian leadership and supervision, communicating with children, witnessing techniques and other skills.

Along with the training, teens will make friendships that will last a lifetime and create memories that will be talked about for years to come.  Most importantly, teens will grow in their faith.

The week is sure to be both a fun and rewarding experience!
