Update from 3/21/2020
Dear friends of Camp Phillip,
Camp Phillip takes guest and staff safety very seriously. At this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Waushara County, but we are still closely monitoring the information coming from our state and local authorities and we are following their guidelines. For that reason all events have been canceled until we are told that we can begin operating again.
Last year I spent a good portion of the year preaching on the book of James. The key passage from James 1:2-4 seems so appropriate for our current situation: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
I don’t know of anybody who looks forward to tough times in life, but those tough times force us to throw ourselves into our Shepherd’s care. We pray that God keeps all our camp friends and families healthy and we ask that you continue to pray for us. Because the majority of our income is from camp events, we face some difficult decisions with staffing when we have to cancel camp events. We will begin to be severely impacted the middle of April.
We continue to plan for ministry later this spring and we are looking forward to an amazing summer of lives that are changed through this ministry. Right now my prayer is that camp can reopen soon and that children are so eager to come to camp that our numbers explode like they never have before, but I also pray that God’s will be done.
We have faith that ours is a God of love and that He is with each and every one of us. This Lenten season certainly reminds us of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice so that we have a forgiveness and a heaven that we don’t deserve. May God continue to be with you and bless you.
